GREENSBORO - Former Ohio State Buckeye Steve Miller (6’3”, 256) has joined the Cobras for the 2019 season.

From Canton, Ohio, Miller came out of high school as a four-star prospect, after playing football at McKinley High School in Canton.

Following his time at McKinley, Miller attended and played for The Ohio State Buckeyes, after being recruited by them and several other colleges, including Florida, Michigan State, Nebraska, and Notre Dame. In his four years, Miller was able to produce 45 tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception returned for a touchdown, with that coming in the 2015 Sugar Bowl playoff game against then-No.1 ranked Alabama. The score helped in leading the Buckeyes to a 42-35 victory and securing a berth in the national championship game against Oregon.

After going undrafted in the 2015 NFL draft, Miller signed with the Carolina Panthers, training with them for a short time. From there, he went on to play for the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL.

Head coach Billy Back is delighted to add Miller to Carolina’s ranks and believes that “the addition of him added to the others [the Cobras] have signed on [the] defensive line makes for a very scary pass rush for opposing quarterbacks.” Back continues on, saying, “He’s a great teammate, competitor, and a big athlete which is exactly what we are looking for here in Carolina.”
